We are carefully monitoring the public health polices of both the USA and Tahiti related to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This has created anxieties and in some cases very real disruptions to daily life for all of us during this difficult time.
However, and after careful consideration, at this time there are no plans to cancel this race. Aside from the temporary restrictions on some international travel currently in place in the US and other nations, we do not anticipate further interruptions in the planning and logistics related to the race.
In the event these are needed, we have discussed several medical testing and consultation options to be made available should they be needed prior to the start, such as
• to verify crew health before the start and assist with getting any documentation needed to clear entry into Tahiti, and the US.
• limit any race related gatherings to a number of people then recommended by local health authorities
• ensure medical consultation is made available to participating teams
These are not planned at this time, simply discussed as options should they be necessary.
Nonetheless, we do urge our competitors and other participants to exercise caution and heed the warnings outlined by the local, state and federal authorities in your region so that you may come to Los Angeles in late May to join us and enjoy this great race.
We will inform you with regular updates as needed in the coming weeks, and if you have specific questions or concerns please contact Dave Cort on our TPYC Race Committee: DaveCort@pacedgesys.com or on +1 310 283 3673.
